IGEL's New Remote Management Suite 3.0 Makes Thin Client Management More Graphical and Intuitive Than Ever

) September 15, 2008 -- IGEL Technology today released Remote Management Suite 3 (RMS 3.0), enhancing the easiest to use thin client management software with a new graphical user interface (GUI) and extended control of the latest digital services.

IGEL RMS 3.0 is a pillar of the IGEL Universal Desktop strategy that gives a great user experience and the lowest deployment costs by being able to deliver many different server-based applications using their native access protocols or "Digital Services." It does this by allowing each different Digital Service in a Universal Desktop to be remotely controlled using IGEL Remote Management Suite 3.0. These changes can be made individually to a Universal Desktop or deployed to many thousands of desktops with drag-and-drop simplicity using profiles. There is no need to create different scripts or firmware images for each terminal and this is what makes IGEL RMS 3.0 so powerful and able to deploy subtle individual changes to users, even in large thin client environments.

IGEL Remote Management Suite 3.0 offers organizations deploying customized Universal Desktops the ability to access Virtual PCs and Cloud Computing

New Digital Services that can now be remotely controlled by IGEL RMS 3.0 include VMware Virtual Desktop Manager 2.1, Citrix XenDesktop Appliance mode, Ericom® PowerTerm® WebConnect client, the native SAP GUI and the Firefox web browser. This is in addition to the existing ability to control ICA/RDP, VoIP and terminal emulation.

IGEL's Remote Management Suite 3.0 includes a completely new GUI making the centralized management of IGEL Universal Desktops an intuitive, point-and-click experience. The latest software, which is delivered free of charge with every IGEL Universal Desktop, comes with an installation wizard and an integrated database allowing administrators to get it up and running within minutes.

In addition to the new features, all the existing benefits of the IGEL Remote Management Suite remain. Roll-outs can be fully automated by predefining and assigning profiles for the new devices. Thus, new settings will be assigned as soon as the new thin clients touch the network. Scalable to many thousands of thin clients, the software remains easy to use, without the need for scripting, open, bandwidth-friendly and secure. The support for redundant third party databases like Microsoft® SQL Server enables failsafe capability and high availability for the large and complex organizations.

"IGEL Remote Management Suite 3.0 offers organizations deploying customized Universal Desktops the ability to access Virtual PCs and Cloud Computing," said Stephen Yeo, worldwide strategic marketing director for IGEL Technology. "Users are happy since they can have a customized access device with a great user experience while IT Managers can easily deploy and manage thousands of thin clients without ever having to visit them during the roll out or production phase. There is nothing else like it in the market."

Remote Management Suite 3.0 is immediately available at www.MyIGEL.com.
