ElephantDrive Moves Millions of Files from Xdrive to Help Displaced Users

) December 6, 2008 -- ElephantDrive Inc., the world's leader in instant file access, online storage, and remote backup has announced a free and automated file transfer from AOL's Xdrive to ElephantDrive. The offering is designed to make it easy for users of the Xdrive service to migrate to ElephantDrive before their existing accounts are closed. In the first week of availability of the automated transfer tool, ElephantDrive has delivered over one million files from Xdrive to new ElephantDrive accounts.
The tool was developed in response to AOL's announcement that they will permanently close their service on January 12, 2009. In addition to facilitating the migration, ElephantDrive offers the soon-to-be displaced Xdrive customers a 30-day free trial to a Home Plus account. ElephantDrive's Home Plus accounts offer unlimited backup and storage for up to four computers for only $9.95/month. The Home Plus accounts include a rich set of additional features including online instant file access, file sharing, and version history.

We are proud to introduce the best and easiest transfer solution to Xdrive customers

We offer Xdrive customers more ways to keep their digital assets protected and connected from anywhere around the globe.

We're excited to welcome the Xdrive users and look forward to providing new and innovative storage solutions

While our infrastructure has evolved to accommodate highly efficient cloud-to-cloud data migration, Xdrive will be gone shortly after the beginning of 2009 and users should initiate their transfers as soon as possible.

Designed to meet the needs of both consumers and business customers, ElephantDrive combines powerful automated backup functionality, online storage, and instant file access. The former Xdrive customers will benefit from faster upload speeds, the ability to schedule backup jobs, and the option to access files through a mapped drive or the web-based interface. Additionally, the paying subscribers who are making the move will have access to much more storage space -- an increase from 50 GB to unlimited total storage.
"We are proud to introduce the best and easiest transfer solution to Xdrive customers," said Adam Altman, VP of Marketing for ElephantDrive. "We offer Xdrive customers more ways to keep their digital assets protected and connected from anywhere around the globe."
The Xdrive to ElephantDrive migration comes with a status update monitor that informs Xdrive customers when their transfer is complete and allows them to track the progress. The new users do not need to wait for the transfer to finish to begin enjoying the benefits of their ElephantDrive account. Once they have initiated the process, they can begin storing, accessing, and sharing.
ElephantDrive automated backup and mapped drive access is supported on Windows, Mac, and Linux. The company has also indicated that a major usability and functionality upgrade to its web-based toolset will be released before the end of the year. "We're excited to welcome the Xdrive users and look forward to providing new and innovative storage solutions," said Ben Widhelm, the firm's Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer. "While our infrastructure has evolved to accommodate highly efficient cloud-to-cloud data migration, Xdrive will be gone shortly after the beginning of 2009 and users should initiate their transfers as soon as possible."
