AVANU Announces the Availability of CAI Networks' WebMux Load Balancers Now Supporting Multiple VLANs and Multiple ISPs

) September 29, 2008 -- AVANU®, Authorized Distributor for CAI Networks, is shipping the full line of WebMux Load Balancer network appliances that now support multiple Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), through 802.1Q trunking--enabling multiple VLANs on each WebMux load balancing port, for subnet load balancing as well as multihoming support. Multihoming, a common practice to increase connection reliability, allows a WebMux to direct traffic through multiple ISPs. The 802.1Q trunking and multihoming support are new in firmware version 8.5.00.

WebMux multiple VLAN support extends peak performance of load balancing by allowing network managers to simply trunk multiple VLANS, thus avoid sending VLAN traffic through routers. That increases performance, simplifies management, and promotes high availability (HA) capabilities to servers on different VLANs. WebMux can load balance between different VLAN groups and will maintain the isolations between the VLAN groups. This benefits large organizations with multiple departments, hosting companies, or external customers, by providing the different groups' security and the convenience as a whole.

New support for multihoming of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) increases IP network high availability (HA) and performance. Webux Load Balancers increase reliability by dynamically balancing traffic through more than one ISP to provide multihoming services. This provides fault tolerance by assuring uninterrupted network access of sites by having more than one uplink to different ISPs in the event of failure of an ISP upstream link.

Multiple VLAN support in WebMux firmware version 8.5.00 supports WebMux's Layer 2 through 7 load balancing and failover capabilities across multiple VLANs and multiple ISPs. The latest firmware enhances the existing easily-managed load balancing for multiple Web sites, and other Internet services, with enhanced performance and reliability options. The version 8.5.00 firmware enhances the WebMux capabilities of HTTP compression, SSL/TLS acceleration, and DDoS attack protection. WebMux's multihoming support is fully interoperable with CAI Network's DNSMux appliance. DNSMux provides failover protection and high availability for global load balancing and other sites with multiple hosting.

Customers are covered under CAI Network's standard three (3) year product warranty (Parts & Labor), three (3) year firmware updates, and three (3) year technical support with the purchase of WebMux Load Balancer(s). Customers with current coverage can contact CAI Networks at 'support@cainetwork.com' for an 8.5.00 firmware update.

The family of WebMux Load Balancers (Models 481S, 591SG, 680PG) pricing starts at US$3,999 and includes CAI Network's standard three (3) year product warranty (Parts & Labor), three (3) year firmware updates, and three (3) year technical support.

Hosting and CoLo Businesses, Systems Integrators, Value Added Resellers, and other businesses or entities interested in WebMux Load Balancers can contact AVANU at 1.888.248.4900 (US & Canada Toll Free), 1.408.248.8960 International. http://www.avanu.com
