Revamped ForGreeks.com Offers Premier Online Community Connecting Sorority and Fraternity Members Worldwide

) November 3, 2009 -- The camaraderie and networking unique to being Greek shouldn’t end with college. That’s the thinking behind the creation of http://www.forgreeks.com, a newly retooled website created by founders Jarrell Liner and Enrique Allen. “For most of us, the connections we made with our fraternity brothers or sorority sisters were one of the highlights of our college experience,” said Liner, a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Gamma Phi Chapter. “Enrique and I set out to provide a portal that would take those strong bonds to the next level.”

The result was ForGreeks.com, an interactive online community of college Greeks from around the world. Originally launched in 2007, ForGreeks.com grew virally, attracting close to 2000 members simply by word of mouth and social networking. The newly revamped site now offers easier navigation and a slew of user-friendly features for members. Members can share photos, upload videos, find jobs, post blogs, post in forums, buy and sell in classifieds, find services in the business directory, find events, and much more. The newly upgraded site also is an OpenSocial container, and members can import content and contact lists from Yahoo!, Hotmail, Gmail, MSN, AOL, and Facebook.

“Our idea was to take the best qualities of Facebook, add the capabilities of YouTube, and include the professional networking of LinkedIN – but make it a secure place for Greeks only,” said Liner

“Our idea was to take the best qualities of Facebook, add the capabilities of YouTube, and include the professional networking of LinkedIN – but make it a secure place for Greeks only,” said Liner.

When conducting market research, Liner and Allen heard one thing repeatedly: Greeks missed their community once college was over. “They missed the sense of family and unity that is soo prominent at the college level,” said Liner. In response to this feedback, he and Allen have implemented in several features that assist members with not only reconnecting with out of touch Fraternity or Sorority members, but is also instrumental in creating new bonds with other members.

As graduates move through their careers, the chance to network with other Greeks is invaluable. “Of the nation’s 50 largest corporations, 43 are headed by Greeks,” said Liner. “Being Greek is about that kind of leadership, and ForGreeks.com is a portal that will provide career connections that last a lifetime.”

“There are several sites out there that only target one specific demographic of the Greek population. The thing that makes ForGreeks.com soo unique is that we have been able to appeal to the Greek population as a whole” states Liner.

With the additions and upgrades added to ForGreeks.com, they have positioned themselves to become the premier online community for all college Greeks. “Our goal from the beginning was to become a valuable tool that our members could use to enhance their Greek experience” states Liner. “And that is exactly what we will continue to do.”
