KMSI Announces KMx Update That Provides eLearning, Knowledge Management and Collaboration Tools for Apple iPhone and Other Mobil

) March 30, 2009 -- Knowledge Management Solutions, Inc. (KMSI) a leader in Web-Based Training and eLearning Technologies announced that Version 5.3 of its' KMx - Advanced Distributed Learning Platform provides development and delivery of eLearning courseware, knowledge management and collaboration tools for mobile devices, including the Apple iPhone and Microsoft Windows CE devices with full conformance to the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) standard.

"Our extensive industry research has concluded that no other learning technology platform can support the development and delivery of eLearning courseware for mobile devices, with full conformance to the SCORM learning management standard. With the release of KMx Version 5.3, KMSI has achieved this significant milestone and set a new standard for our industry" said Jack E. Lee, President and CEO of KMSI.

The ability to develop and deliver media rich eLearning, exams and surveys to mobile devices with full learning management capabilities has been an elusive capability for learning technology providers. KMx is the only solution that can make the same learning object available for use in an eLearning course, as part of a classroom curricula, or for incorporation in a searchable knowledge base as a performance support tool. With the release of KMx V5.3, end- users can access courses, learning objects, exams and surveys using their iPhone or Windows CE handheld device with full learning management capabilities, including:

  • Time tracking (when, by whom and for how long was the learning object accessed)
  • Bookmarking (allowing the user to save their progress and return at a later time)
  • Assessment Scoring and Remediation (recording each student response and tracking retakes)
  • Survey and Performance Appraisal Delivery
  • Pass/Fail and Completion Status Recording

eLearning goes mobile !

The KMx SCORM Application Programming Interface (API) is the only full implementation of the learning standard that has been designed to support both online and offline use. With the release of KMx V5.3, this core platform technology has been extended to provide support for most mobile devices and hand-held technologies.

"It is really exciting to see health care providers, insurance agents, sales executives and workers from all industries access learning objects and assessments using mobile devices in the field, instead of having to break away from the task to find a workstation to access critical information. KMx mobile courseware can provide a rich media experience with audio, video, animations, exams, surveys, branching and interactivity" said Mike Binnix, CTO of KMSI.

KMSI has also included a full mobile collaboration suite with the KMx 5.3 release. Collaboration features include mobile chat rooms, threaded discussion boards, surveys, performance evaluations, a searchable knowledge management system, a performance management system and talent management tools.

"Our clients can now leverage mobile devices to deliver and administer performance appraisals and peer reviews, provide instant access to company experts via chat rooms and threaded discussion forums, and deliver a robust content repository for just-in-time training and to support workers in the field" said Brandi Lee, Vice President of Training and Customer Support for KMSI.
