Docuvana Announces Xit for Xoopit Gmail Users

) October 15, 2009 -- Docuvana, Inc. announced today that it has created an express registration page for Xoopit users who were recently told that their Gmail accounts will no longer be supported after November 13th. Docuvana is a free service that allows users to view, store, search and share their email attachments and other files. Docuvana is currently in a public beta testing period.

After reading Xoopit's announcement that began "Xoopit for Gmail is closing, here is the info you'll need..." Docuvana CEO Jim Dowd immediately called Anton Prakash, Founder and Chief Architect of docuvana, to relay the news. The development team quickly mapped out a process to facilitate the registration of Xoopit's Gmail users. "Implementing OpenID for docuvana was already high on our list of priorities, and expediting the registration process for Xoopit account holders was a step in that direction," said Prakash. "We plan to implement OpenID later this year."

Dowd noted that Xoopit switchers will appreciate docuvana's online viewing, sharing and and search features. "Xoopit and docuvana do not work in the same way. Docuvana takes a copy of each file attachment in a user's inbox, organizing and presenting the information in useful and intuitive ways. Documents and other files can be viewed in almost any web browser with no special plug-ins other than Flash, and we have built robust search and file sharing capabilities into the service. We think users will welcome these features and the time they can save with docuvana." Dowd explained that another benefit of docuvana is the ability to consolidate attachments and files from multiple email accounts and even local storage. "Everybody uses email, and nobody is happy with the way attachments are managed. If you have two or three email accounts, you have two or three times the problem." Prakash said that Docuvana works with most email services that support POP or IMAP access, including Gmail. "Gmail is one of the largest email service providers. Jim and I both use Gmail, and so do most of our development team. Either Gmail or Google Apps. So docuvana has always supported Gmail. We are pleased that we can offer an alternative for Xoopit users."
