) September 30, 2008 --
Aventiv’s
NomaDesk
is the first virtual fileserver that lets
mobile professionals, or “Digital
Nomads”, intuitively edit,
share, store, backup and synchronize files
effortlessly and securely
across company boundaries and the Internet. NomaDesk offers
a virtual (SaaS) fileserver with an interface that is seamlessly
integrated into the Windows operating system. Fully
encrypted, it is the simplest way to secure important business files
while ensuring they are never at-risk nor out-of-reach, even when an
Internet connection is.

The release of NomaDesk 2.5 marks the beginning of a new application platform that will allow us to launch even more exciting business features for the digital nomads. The indefinite free trial helps us better understand their specific needs. So, we are gathering feedback for now

Aventiv (www.aventiv.com),
a managed-service provider of Internet-based, professional file sharing
and synchronization solutions, has launched its latest NomaDesk 2.5
release. With this release the company introduces a
brand-new tiered “virtual
fileserver” offering. Following
the firm’s philosophy that
storage size or bandwidth should never impose limits, NomaDesk users can
choose between fileserver
types to share and synchronize documents
based on how they work, not
on how much data or bandwidth they consume.

  • The TEAM fileserver enables you to share documents that
can be edited by anyone in your network —whether
inside or outside your organization and includes workflow tools.
  • The PUBLIC fileserver delivers all of the features of the
TEAM version, except only the owner can make changes to the files on
the fileserver. As a rich media publication system, the
PUBLIC fileserver lets you invite an unlimited number of guests who
    can access the virtual fileserver’s
    rich content as read-only.
  • The PERSONAL fileserver automatically synchronizes the
owner’s private files on up to
five different PCs. Like a secure and encrypted “private
    drive” that also includes
instant backup and ensures that any file changes you make at work,
will also be available to you when you get home, or even when you open
    your laptop on the plane.

Each new NomaDesk user automatically receives a free PERSONAL and
PUBLIC fileserver. Any other fileserver, including the
comprehensive TEAM fileserver, can be added for free for an indefinite
period.

“The release of NomaDesk 2.5
marks the beginning of a new application platform that will allow us to
launch even more exciting business features for the digital nomads.
The indefinite free trial helps us better understand their
specific needs. So, we are gathering feedback for now”,
says the company’s chief
executive Filip Tack.

NomaDesk uses a unique distributed file system (DFS) technology
where files are replicated between the server and the client as changes
occur. Fileservers show up in the Windows environment as disk-drives.
Within minutes of downloading the NomaDesk (thin) client, users can
actively synchronize files between computers or collaborate with other
teammates. NomaDesk clients are being developed for Mac and
Linux.

NomaDesk is available in extended trial and can be downloaded at www.NomaDesk.com.
